Mt. Pleasant Elementary School in Millville was recently awarded a generous DG Kindness grant by Dollar General in the amount of $1,000, which funded the installation of a brand new “little free library” outside of the school. Along with the monetary donation, Dollar General stores across the state of New Jersey donated over 2,000 books to keep the library fully stocked. It is now open for students, families, and community members to enjoy.
Mt. Pleasant staff and students were joined by representatives from Dollar General and the community to celebrate the “opening” of the library on October 20th. The structure was decorated in orange and blue and adorned with the familiar Millville “M’’ and P-47 Thunderbolt plane insignia.
The new little library is set to become a vibrant hub of literary exploration for Mt. Pleasant students and their families. Thanks to the generous donation, it will be able to offer access to a diverse collection of free books and provide a unique opportunity to share and exchange books with others.
“We are grateful for the donation from Dollar General,” said Mt. Pleasant Elementary School Principal, Mr. Harry Drew. “The free library located in the front of Mt. Pleasant is open to every student who attends school in the Millville School District. We want every student to have access to books. Please come over to our school and make sure you take advantage of the free books for all students!”
