Jets’ CB Kris Boyd Hospitalized After Early-Morning Shooting in Midtown NYC
New York Jets CB Kris Boyd is in critical condition after being shot early Sunday morning, November 16, 2025, in Midtown Manhattan. The shooting occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue, outside the Sei Less restaurant. Police did not immediately identify the victim, but sources told The Post that Boyd, 29, was the individual wounded. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition.
Law enforcement sources said Boyd was with a group of friends outside the restaurant when a dispute escalated and two shots were fired, resulting in the cornerback being struck in the abdomen. According to those same sources, the shooter fled in a BMW X6 SUV, and a silver Mercedes-Benz Maybach also fled the scene. NYPD investigators reported that witnesses were uncooperative. Photographs from the location showed crime-scene tape surrounding the area and a Rhino GX armored SUV, which can cost up to $300,000, parked outside the restaurant after police arrived.
As news of the shooting reached the organization, the Jets issued a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.” Teammates and public officials also responded. Jets player Jermaine Johnson posted a message on X asking for prayers for Boyd, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams wrote that he was praying for Boyd and his loved ones. Boyd’s college friend Ernest Quander told The Post that Boyd was “in good condition” and “doing real good.”
Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely.
In your name, Amen🙏🏾— Jermaine Johnson II (@ii_jermaine) November 16, 2025
The incident occurred during a season in which the Jets have already experienced significant challenges, which have been reflected in the betting markets tracked by major sportsbooks. According to published odds from BetMGM, the Jets’ Super Bowl line is +100,000, their AFC Championship line is +75,000, and their AFC East line is +50,000. The same sportsbook lists its odds of making the playoffs at +10,000. RotoWire shows the Jets at +100,000 to win the Super Bowl, and DraftKings, as referenced by Legal Sports Report, previously listed the Jets with the third-longest Super Bowl odds at +25,000. Game-specific lines have positioned the Jets as substantial underdogs, with a +650 moneyline and approximately a +14-point spread for their matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, totaling 44.5 points.
Another recent line listed the New England Patriots as 12.5-point favorites over the Jets, with New York at +610 on the moneyline. The changing odds mirror the Jets’ rough season to this point, including the their’ 2–8 record, fourth-place AFC East standing, trade of defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys, quarterback change from Justin Fields to Tyrod Taylor, as well as multiple injuries, including Boyd’s season-ending shoulder injury and wide receiver Garrett Wilson being placed on injured reserve.
Boyd joined the Jets this year but has not played this season after suffering a shoulder injury during preseason practice. He signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract and has earned more than $8 million in his career. Boyd was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round in 2019 and later played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans before signing with the Jets.
The team is not playing on Sunday following its Thursday night loss to the New England Patriots. The organization has also faced other difficulties off the field. In October, former Jets player Nick Mangold died at age 41 while seeking a kidney transplant. Earlier this month, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland died at age 24.
No arrests have been made in Boyd’s shooting, and the NYPD has stated the investigation is ongoing. Detectives continue to examine the circumstances of the dispute outside Sei Less as Boyd remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
