Household Hazardous Waste & Shredding Event

Don’t miss the Cumberland County Improvement Authority’s final 2019 Household Hazardous Waste and Shredding Event on Saturday, September 21. Take this opportunity to look through your garage, basement, attic, and shed for unwanted or unused hazardous waste, broken or outdated electronics, and personal documents to be shredded.

The final 2019 Household Hazardous Waste and Shredding Events is scheduled for September 21 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Solid Waste Complex on 169 Jesse Bridge Road, Rosenhayn, NJ (GPS use 169 Jesse Bridge Road, Millville, NJ 08332).

This free event is open to Cumberland County residents only. Nonprofits, commercial and home-based businesses will not be permitted. Proper ID will be required.

Be sure to store hazardous materials in a safe manner until the event day. Accepted items are gasoline, kerosene, pesticides and herbicides, used motor oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, car batteries, cleaning chemicals, fuel oil, oil-based paints, turpentine/thinners, televisions, electronics, fluorescent bulbs, and propane tanks. Shredding of personal documents will be available onsite as well.

The following items are NOT accepted at the event—wood, tires, concrete, brush/branches, refrigerators, air conditioners, and coolers. Residents can dispose of these items at the Solid Waste Complex during regular operating hours for a fee (ccia-net.com/solid-waste-complex/accepted-items-and-fees/). Latex paint is non-hazardous and will not be accepted. For instructions on disposal of latex paint, refer to the guidelines at ccia-net.com/recycling/paint-disposal/.
