Healthy Kids Running Series Announces Fall Registration for Vineland
Registration for the fall Healthy Kids Running Series (HKRS) is now open. The five-week in-person series will begin September 28 at John C. Gittone Park, 2035 E. Oak Road.
HKRS is a national inclusive youth running experience inspiring kids ages 2-14 to believe in themselves and lead an active healthy lifestyle. Its series offers age-appropriate running events for kids in pre-K through eighth grade, including the 50- and 75-yard dashes with a non-compete challenger division, as well as quarter-mile, half-mile, and one-mile runs.
“We had a successful spring series with over 60 kids registered,” HKRS Community Coordinator Krissy DeStefano says. “We set a goal to see kids come out, be active, and have a blast, and I believe that’s what we accomplished. We hope for the same in our fall series.”
Races will take place Sundays at 4 p.m. on September 28, October 5, 12 and 19 and November 2. Participants will race in their respective divisions while challenging themselves to improve each week and receiving points based on how they finish for the quarter-mile races and up.
DeStefano describes the program as “designed to introduce kids to running in a positive way,” adding that “it’s a safe and friendly environment for kids to become interested in staying healthy and active.
“I’m so excited to be part of an organization that brings the community together,” she adds.
Parents can learn more about the event and register their kids by visiting the website HealthyKidsRunningSeries.org. Registration fees are $54 per child. Each runner receives a race bib for each week, a runner shirt, and finisher medals. Top finishers from each competitive division will also receive a trophy at the end of the series.
Single-day race registration is also available one hour prior to the start of each race at $16.90, which covers one single race day.
