If you are looking for a fabulous autumn weekend and things to do in and around Cumberland County, there are many possibilities!

On Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8, the WheatonArts Festival of Fine Crafts will be back with more than 150 juried artists, artisans, and crafters. This year WheatonArts is celebrating 23 years of artistic excellence. At this crowd-favorite two-day South Jersey event, engage with a diverse collection of artists exhibiting and selling their handcrafted works of art. Experience unique crafting demonstrations, relax in the Beer & Wine Garden (for those age 21 or over), and create with hands-on family art activities. Listen to live music in the food court with a selection of gourmet food vendors and specialty food trucks.

WheatonArts signature Glass Pumpkin Fundraiser opens during the Festival as well! The Festival is included with general admission to WheatonArts. Admission prices are $12, senior adults $11, students $7, and children 5 and under are free. This is a rain or shine event. Any unused tickets can be used for general admission to WheatonArts after the event. Service animals are allowed on the grounds.

On Saturday, October 7, 4-H is hosting the Cumberland County Swap Meet & Car Show at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds, 3001 Carmel Road inMillville. The Swap Meet is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Car Show begins at 10 a.m. The swap meet is automotive-related items only. The proceeds benefit Cumberland County 4-H Program.

Also on Saturday, the Hedge Field Fall Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 609 Garton Road in Bridgeton. This is the third annual festival. Get lost in the unique handmade corn maze, walk through the sunflower field, take a hayride, pick out a pumpkin, bounce on the bounce houses, and grab a snack at the concessions stands! If you miss this date, you can visit any Saturday or Sunday in October from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There is certainly a great deal more in store for the first full weekend of October, including events at the Levoy Theatre, like “Puffs.” For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs…who just happened to be there, too. Go to the website for more information: levoy.net/event/puffs/

This weekend at the Landis Theater in Vineland offers you something you may prefer, The Land of Ozz—a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne‚ More Wicked that the Rest! The band consists of seasoned Philadelphia area musicians each with 35+ years of stage and touring experience. Visit thelandistheater.com for show details and prices.

For my next article, in two weeks, we will be ready with the ghosts, goblins, and all things that go bump in the night!
