The Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society (VHAS), along with local poet, Rebecca Bonham, is hosting a poetry workshop titled “History through Memoirs,” on Saturday, October 8. This event will be held at the museum, located at 108 S. 7th St., in Vineland.
Bonham, co-owner of Blue Jade Press, is returning to VHAS to share her writing wisdom to attendees of the workshop. She is offering a different take on genealogical research. “Through poetry and short stories, we can create a family history that can be shared and handed down to future generations,” she said.
Kate Hart Nardone will accompany Bonham at this writing workshop. Nardone is a published author, poet, visual artist, jewelry maker and a certified birth doula. She will be reading poetry from one of her many books. Copies of Nardone’s devotional, Hindsight, will be available for purchase at the workshop.
“I have been writing poetry since I was 16 years old,” she revealed. “I went through a lot of hard things and it became an escape … a place for the pain to go, so that I didn’t have to choke on it.”
History through Memoirs begins at 1 p.m. To register, go to forms.gle/ugpxWH5VxyrU5rfs9. This event is free to the public, however, a $5 donation is suggested and welcomed. All donations directly support the VHAS mission.
