Events Are Back

by Russell Swanson, Exec. Dir., VDID, Main Street Vineland

We have had somewhat of a breathless summer so far on The Ave, with the hustle and bustle continuing as we approach autumn. After last year’s unfortunate lull in outdoor activities during the height of the pandemic, we’re back in high gear this year.

On the heels of my acknowledgements and thanks for those who made our latest mural dedication a success, I now do the same for Sunday’s Food Truck Festival on The Ave—another tremendous success.

I must thank, first of all, Stallion Marketing for securing and coordinating all the food trucks and making what would otherwise be an arduous task much easier. They’ve been a great team player for each of our Food Truck Festivals. Likewise, I must thank all the food trucks for doing their part to put Vineland on the food truck map and satisfying a lot of appetites.

I want to thank our major sponsor, Members 1st of NJ Federal Credit Union and our Entertainment Stage sponsor, Newfield National Bank. Thank you to all the entertainers, DJ Zach Reed, non-food vendors, and all the other participants. Thank you to the Main Street Vineland staff and volunteers who spent long hours planning and then staffing the event. A specific, special shoutout goes to Main Street Vineland Associate Director Robert Scarpa who went the extra mile with his hard work and thoroughness to make this event a success. Thanks also go to the various City departments involved—Health, Public Works, Police, Emergency Medical Services, and others.

Most of all, however, I want to thank all of you who came out to enjoy the food, music, and fun. Without an audience or crowd, a show is just a run-through or a rehearsal. You made it special.

The fun just keeps coming:

• The official inauguration of our Walk The Ave initiative and the dedication of our three walking trails will take place on Tuesday, September 14, at 12 p.m. Signage is already up and maps are being printed to help those who want to see The Ave and keep fit at the same time.

• The 29th Cruise Down Memory Lane will take place Saturday, October 16, from 5 to 9 p.m., with the rain date as the next day from 2 to 5 p.m. Over 1,000 classic cars will line The Ave for the downtown Vineland tradition. Watch for more.

• Our A Taste of Vineland & Volunteer Recognition Event returns after a one-year hiatus on Wednesday, October 27 from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Greenview Inn at Eastlyn Golf Course. 4049 Italia Ave., Vineland. Many of Vineland’s finest restaurants will be offering samples of their delicious signature dishes—main courses, appetizers, and desserts—as well as a silent auction and more. We’ll also be recognizing those of our Main Street Vineland volunteers and partners who have contributed greatly to the work of our organization. We’ll have breaking news about that soon. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available and ad space will be available in the event program book.
