Bacon Named 2024 Counselor of the County

Mary Bacon has been awarded the title of 2024 Counselor of the County for Cumberland County. The New Jersey School Counselor Association awards this honor each year to one school counselor in each county in New Jersey. Counselors are nominated by their colleagues and winners are selected by their own county’s School Counselor Associations.

“Mary has an unwavering commitment to the well-being and success of each student at Millville High School,” says Wendy McKensie, K-12 Supervisor of School Counselors. “She is a leader in the counseling department and goes above and beyond to help her students, whether it be to assist a struggling student find their academic footing, guide a student through the college application process, or simply offer words of encouragement during difficult times. Mary is truly a constant source of support and inspiration for all who have the privilege of knowing her.”

Throughout her 45-year tenure as a school counselor, Bacon has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to nurturing the social, emotional, and academic growth of every student she encounters, embodying the core values of compassion, empathy, and inclusivity.
