Back to School Bash: A Free Community Event

The new school year will be here soon. To help kids prepare for this, they can enjoy a free Back to School Bash, held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 10. The site will be the Outdoor Fun Zone at the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA, located at 1159 E. Landis Avenue, in Vineland, and the event is open to the public.

YMCA CEO George Steinbronn, Jr., said, “We hope that families will participate in this year’s Back to School Bash. It’s a great way to welcome the new school year as summer ends. The annual celebration focuses on the area of social development. Our goal is to collect and hand out much needed binders, notebooks, and other basic school supplies for students in grades kindergarten to twelve. The theme this year is ‘Back to School ROCKS!’ in honor of the School House Rocks 50th anniversary.”

The free event will include fitness-focused games and activities, plus giveaways and vendors. It will also feature fun sections like “Healthy Lunches Rock!,” which will offer ideas and samples of healthy lunch ideas, and “Science Rocks!,” which will demonstrate school-age science experiences.

Also sure to be popular are an inflatable obstacle course and a prize machine to test kids’ luck. The Back to School Bash will accent the positive and enjoyable aspects of the coming school year.

No registration is necessary to attend this free event.
