About Scott

I’ve been in fantasy football leagues since high school and betting seriously since Illinois legalized sports betting. But where most people see gambling as entertainment, I see it as a risk analysis problem — and risk analysis is literally my day job.

As a commercial insurance underwriter for the past decade, I spend my days evaluating whether businesses are good or bad bets. Turns out the same skills translate perfectly to casino reviews: reading the fine print nobody else reads, calculating true expected value, and understanding that the house always has an edge but some edges are more reasonable than others.

I’m the guy who reads the entire terms and conditions before accepting a bonus. I’ve built spreadsheets that calculate the true cost of wagering requirements, the break-even point on reload bonuses, and the ROI on different bankroll management strategies. My friends think I’m insane. My spreadsheets say I’m up 3.2% lifetime, which in gambling terms makes me practically a professional.

What I Don’t Cover

I don’t review slot games — too much variance, not enough edge to analyze. I won’t give you “locks” or “hot tips” because those are statistically meaningless. Crypto casinos have too much regulatory uncertainty for my risk tolerance. And I don’t write emotional appeals — if you want feelings, I’m not your guy. I stick to numbers because numbers don’t lie.

The Personal Stuff

When I’m Not Crunching Numbers

  • Running a $500 buy-in fantasy football league (12 years strong)
  • Watching every Bears game with my dad (suffering together)
  • Golf (yes, I track my handicap in a spreadsheet)
  • Will drive to Indiana for a half-point better line

Industry Pet Peeves

  • Bonuses with wagering requirements over 35x (mathematically hostile)
  • Sportsbooks pushing parlays to casual bettors
  • “Guaranteed profit” betting systems (there are none)
  • The phrase “due for a win” (not how probability works)

“Never accept a bonus without calculating the true cost. The fine print says X, but here’s what it actually means for your bankroll. My spreadsheet doesn’t lie — and neither do I.”

My Approach

I approach casino and sportsbook reviews like I approach insurance policies: skeptically, analytically, and with a red pen ready. If a bonus sounds too good to be true, I can tell you exactly why — with math. Want to know the true expected value of that “100% match up to $500”? I’ve already calculated it.
