Tattoos in the Life of the American Sailor
March 8 - April 22
The Delaware Bay Museum, located at the Bayshore Center at Bivalve, is showing an exhibit entitled “Tattoos in the Life of the American Sailor.” The exhibit is on loan from the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia.
Tattoos have a long history with the American sailor, even though they are less evident today. The exhibit will not only educate patrons about tattoos but also deepen their appreciation of it as an art form.
The display features a wealth of unique artifacts, iconic photographs, and artwork that illustrate how the American sailor helped shape the public perception of tattooing in America.
Bayshore Center is at 2800 High St St. in Port Norris.
