South Jersey Lawyers to Hold Charity Golf Tournament in Honor of Deceased Member
May 16
As our region continues to deal with wintry weather, complete with heavy snowfall and bitterly cold temperatures, the members of the Cumberland County Bar Foundation are already hard at work planning for a fun yet important event taking place in the warmer months to come. On May 16, 2022, on what is expected to be a sunny spring afternoon, the Foundation will hold its 2nd Annual Legacy Golf Tournament.
Following the success of its golf outings of the past, the Foundation added another element at last year’s inaugural Legacy Golf Tournament—honoring a deceased member of the Bar. Last year, the Foundation honored the late Yoshitaka “Yosh” Hanzawa. This year’s honoree will be the late Samuel J. Serata, with members of the Serata family in attendance.
Additionally, the golf tournament serves as the Foundation’s main fundraiser for its numerous charitable initiatives. These include an annual holiday breakfast for needy and abused children, an annual holiday party for the children in the mental health unit of one of our area hospitals, scholarships for students pursuing careers in law and criminal justice, a mock trial competition for local high school students and gifts for newly-adopted children in Cumberland County. Most recently, for the Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., the Foundation made donations to the homeless.
