NEW JERSEY — New Jersey’s unemployment rate continues to decline for the fifth consecutive month.
The state’s unemployment rate lowered by 0.1 of a percentage point to 3.2 percent, the lowest monthly rate since the state-level records began in 1976. The rate is also below the national unemployment rate of 3.7 percent.
The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics released the new unemployment rate data on Thursday, September 19.
From August 2018 to August 2019 employment levels in the state were higher by 46,700 jobs with the private sector adding 44,000 jobs and the public sector adding 2,700 jobs.
