LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Logan Township Branch of the Gloucester County Library System (GCLS) has been awarded a grant of $2,000 from the New Jersey State Library for the purchase of library materials to support adult learners who seek to improve their literacy skills in a variety of areas.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said the materials are multi-media and run an array of subject matter.

“In addition to basic reading and writing, material is available to assist adults with skills in math, financial literacy, health, science, and the use of technology,” Damminger said in a statement.  “Items were purchased in a variety of formats, including books, audio, and DVD. These items were selected to support job seekers, those who need to improve their skills for career advancement, and adult English Language students.”

Liaison to the Gloucester County Library System, Freeholder Lyman Barnes, said that in addition to these materials, the Logan Branch offers classes for GED preparation and testing, English tutors, courses on how to prepare for job interviews and resume preparation and that representatives from the Small Business Administration also visit to help entrepreneurs create business plans.

“Our community libraries are user-friendly centers where residents can take advantage of a myriad of materials and programs,” Barnes said.  “Librarians and the staff at the library are helpful and approachable and we encourage residents to request their assistance.”

The grant opportunity was made possible by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds and made available through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Grants to States program.

The Logan Township Branch is located at 498 Becket Rd, Logan Twp. (856) 241-0202.  For more information about the Logan Branch of the Gloucester County Library visit https://www.gcls.org/locations/logan-township-branch.
