SEWELL, N.J. – Rowan College of South Jersey’s (RCSJ) “Lunch With a Vet,” an event held to raise funds for the Student Veterans Association (SVA), was held on Tuesday, Aug. 13 on the college’s Sewell campus.
As hot dogs and hamburgers cooked on the grill were served with conversation and comradery, more than $300 was raised during the summer cookout, in addition to a generous $500 scholarship donated to assist military students.
According to the RCSJ website, “faculty and staff encourage veteran students to take advantage of a variety of programs, services, and resources at Rowan College that support success.” Those services include help with transitioning to college life, guidance with financial aid and the GI Bill, among other services.
The event was the first of many activities planned to support the approximately 150 veterans taking courses on the RCSJ Gloucester campus. The next SVA fundraiser is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Texas Roadhouse in Turnersville.
